GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Meredith College soccer team earned a key USA South Conference victory on the road Saturday afternoon, defeating Greensboro College. The Avenging Angels came out strong and maintained their momentum throughout the match, creating multiple scoring opportunities and controlling the pace of play.
Meredith broke through when Jaelyne Thornton found the back of the net to give the Angels a 1-0 lead, a score that held until the final whistle.
Defensively, Meredith was dominant. Goalkeepers Samantha Woodfin and Carter Knox combined efforts in goal to secure the shutout victory, each coming up with key saves to preserve the lead.
This win marks an important step for the Avenging Angels as they continue to climb in the USA South standings. Meredith will look to carry this momentum into their next conference matchup on Saturday, October 25, when they host Salem College at 2:00 p.m. for Senior Day on Meredith's home field.
