RALEIGH, N.C. — The Meredith College volleyball team showed determination and grit in a five-set showdown inside Weatherspoon Gymnasium on Wednesday night, battling through a competitive conference matchup before falling 3–2 .
Set 1
The Avenging Angels came out strong, controlling the pace with balanced offense and sharp passing. Delaney Lowery and Caitlyn Russell sparked early momentum with powerful swings, while Reagan Kresho added timely kills to push Meredith ahead. Strong defensive communication helped the Angels secure the opening set, 25–19.
Set 2
Meredith carried that energy into the second, capitalizing on clean transitions and strong serving. Setter Lillie Davis kept the attack spread out and efficient, tallying assists across multiple hitters and adding two aces to keep the Pacers off balance. Meredith closed the frame 25–18 to take a 2–0 match lead.
Set 3
Momentum began to shift in the third as the Angels fought through long rallies and tight exchanges. Kresho and Lowery continued to pace the offense, while Davis reached the 30-assist mark midway through the set. Despite strong play at the net, the Angels dropped the set 25–20.
Set 4
The fourth set proved to be one of the closest of the night, with both teams trading points in a fast-paced battle. Russell came alive late with several big kills, and Lowery added key attacks down the stretch. Meredith's defensive effort kept the set tight, but the Angels narrowly fell 25–23.
Set 5
In the deciding set, Meredith continued to fight behind determined efforts from Kresho and Lowery, who each delivered kills to keep the Angels within reach. Despite their push, errors and momentum swings halted the comeback as the Angels fell 15–10 in the final frame.
