Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. – The Meredith College women's basketball team battled Virginia Wesleyan University on Monday afternoon but ultimately fell 72–54 in a nonconference matchup at Weatherspoon Gymnasium.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a strong start, opening the game with a 25-point first quarter to take early control. Meredith responded in the second quarter, matching the Marlins with 13 points to cut into the deficit heading into halftime. Despite continued effort on both ends of the floor, Virginia Wesleyan extended its lead in the third quarter and maintained control through the final period.
Meredith finished the game shooting 40.4 percent from the field and showed resilience down the stretch, scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Skyler Setzer led the Avenging Angels with 13 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Leanna Nohs and Emma Roche each added 10 points, with Roche providing a spark off the bench.
Molly Zuburg contributed across the stat sheet, finishing with six rebounds, six steals, and six assists, while Jaymie Bevins, Emme Baber, Avery Lackland and Jeallen Holland each chipped in with four points having the entire dressed out team score in the contest.

The Avenging Angels will look to regroup as they continue conference play in the New Year on January 6th as they take on Brevard at home.
