BREVARD, N.C. – The Meredith College women's basketball team dropped a USA South Conference road contest to Brevard College, 90–60, on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Gymnasium.
Meredith (2–8, 1–4 USA South) competed early but was unable to slow a balanced Brevard (9–3, 4–1 USA South) offense that used strong shooting and transition scoring to pull away as the game progressed.
Game Highlights
Brevard jumped out to an early lead and held a 27–18 advantage after the opening quarter. Meredith looked to settle in defensively, but Brevard continued to build momentum, taking a 45–27 lead into halftime.
The Tornados extended their lead in the third quarter behind efficient shooting and aggressive play in the paint. Meredith closed the game with its strongest offensive quarter, scoring 22 points in the fourth, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Key Performances
Sophomore Leanna Nohs led Meredith off the bench with a team-high 13 points, shooting 5-of-8 from the field and knocking down three three-pointers.
Emme Baber and Skyler Setzer each added 11 points for the Avenging Angels. Setzer also pulled down six rebounds, while Baber contributed four rebounds and two assists.
Molly Zuburg played all 40 minutes, recording five assists and four rebounds, while Jaymie Bevins chipped in six points and five rebounds.
As a team, Meredith shot 36.5 percent from the field and collected 35 rebounds, with 20 points coming from the bench.
Final Notes
Meredith will look to regroup as conference play continues on January 6th at home versus Pfieffer.Â
