Meredith Loses Battle to Methodist

RALEIGH, N.C. | Meredith College basketball lost 53-35 to Methodist on Tuesday night. The Avenging Angels fought hard, but a strong second half surge from the Monarchs led to the victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Pam Mock made a layup in transition to put the Avenging Angels ahead 6-4. A few more baskets from both sides saw the score tied at 10 after the first quarter.
  • Mock scored six points in the second quarter and converted a layup with 7:47 to take the 16-15 lead. The Monarchs responded with a 13-0 run and led 28-16 at the half.
  • The second half was back-and-forth, but the initial lead for the Monarchs was enough to propel them to victory.
  • Pam Mock led the Avenging Angels' offense, scoring 10 points and hauling six rebounds.
  • Kendalyn Dixon scored a season-high eight points on two threes and two free throws.
  • Rylie Wade finished the night with seven points and nine boards.
  • Jillian Peterson, Kiley Hicks, and Kayleen Grullon all scored eight points for Methodist in the win.

  • Saturday is Senior Day for Meredith. The Avenging Angels will honor their graduating players prior to tip off against Virginia University or Lynchburg at 2:00 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gym.
