RALEIGH, N.C. | The road to eleven straight tournament titles for Meredith Lacrosse started with a 15-4 win today over Oglethorpe in their season opener. Reese Walker was dominant from start to finish for the Avenging Angels. Walker scored five goals and notched three assists.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Bailey Swails found the back of the net two minutes into the contest for the first goal of 2025. Makenna Bowens came up with the equalizer on the next possession for Oglethorpe. Reese Walker tacked on another goal for the Avenging Angels for the early 2-1 lead.
• Reese Walker scored back-to-back goals to cap off the first quarter and give Meredith the 4-1 advantage.
• The Maroon and White found their momentum in the second quarter. Goals from Kenzie Todd and Alison June Mabe highlighted the four in the frame. Meredith led 8-3 at the half.
• Lauryn Turner found a gap in the defense and capitalized netting her first goal of the season. On the next possession, Swails netted a free position goal to earn her hat trick. Meredith took the commanding 12-3 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
• The Avenging Angels scored three more goals in the final quarter and earned their first win of the season, 15-4.
• Madeline Horrell got the start in goal for Meredith and picked up the win. She made eight saves, including a timely free position save and finished the game with a 0.73 save percentage.
• Meredith out shot Oglethorpe 33-16.
