Meredith Falls to Rhodes 17-14

MEMPHIS, Tenn. | Meredith Lacrosse fell 17-14 to Rhodes College in a close game on Friday. It was a back-and-forth contest with the Avenging Angels taking the 8-6 advantage into the half. Rhodes offensive surge in the opening minutes of the third and fourth quarters earned them the victory. The Lynx outscored the Avenging Angels 11-6 in the final two quarters.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Allison June Mabe swung a pass to Bailey Swails, who buried her shot in the back of the net for the first goal of the game. Rhodes responded with three straight tallies to take the lead. Mabe scored two more goals for the Avenging Angels in the first quarter and after 15 minutes, Rhodes clung to a one goal lead, 4-3.
  • Meredith found their offense in the second quarter. Lauryn Turner scored two of the five straight goals to regain the lead, 8-4. Anna Erskine and Molly Heidrick found the back of the net for Rhodes to chip into the deficit. At the half, Meredith held the two-goal advantage, 8-6.
  • The Lynx scored early in the third to tie the game at eight. Reese Walker scored two quick goals to make it 10-8 in favor of Meredith. Rhodes tallied four of the last five goals in the quarter and led by one, 12-11 going into the fourth.
  • Rhodes set the tone, scoring the first four goals of the final frame. Bailey Swails tacked all three goals for Meredith in the quarter, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.
  • Rhodes won 22 draw controls to Meredith's 12.
  • Swails scored five goals on seven shots, Reese Walker and Mabe each tallied three goals, and Lauryn Turner scored two.
  • Molly Heidrick and Caroline Kardian led Rhodes' offense in the win, each netting four goals.
  • Madeline Horrell recorded 11 saves in goal for Meredith.
