RALEIGH, N.C. | Meredith College Lacrosse picked up the 19-5 victory on Saturday in what was a highly anticipated conference clash between Meredith and Piedmont. The Avenging Angels scored nine goals in the first quarter to take a commanding lead they did not relinquish. Maddie Horrell played three quarters in goal and stymied Piedmont early on tallying six total saves in the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Reese Walker got Meredith on the board two minutes into the quarter. On the next possession for the Avenging Angels, Sophie LeClaire passed it to Lauryn Turner. Turner sidestepped one defender and buried her shot into the back of the net to put Meredith up 2-0.
- Lovette Choloh answered, netting Piedmont's first goal to bring the Lions back within one.
- Meredith ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to take the 9-1 advantage going into the second quarter. Bailey Swails scored two goals during the Angels offensive flurry.
- Lauryn Turner scored the final goal of the half, which increased the Avenging Angels lead to 12-2.
- Kenzie Todd scored a SportsCenter worthy goal in the third quarter. She cradled the ball through space in front of the goal, then fired it behind her back shoulder and in.
- Piedmont made a run in the fourth quarter, scoring three straight goals, but Meredith answered right back with three of their own to close out the game and claim the 19-5 victory.
- Lauryn Turner found shooting space all game, and it paid off with five goals and an assist on the day.
- Reese Walker totaled five points on a pair of goals and three assists.
- Bailey Swails and Ava Spradley each scored three goals.
- Madeline Horrell made six saves in goal for Meredith to earn her seventh win of the season and 37th of her career. Horrell is now one win away from setting a new USA South Conference record for career wins.
- In the loss, Savannah Limehouse scored two goals for Piedmont.

- Meredith hits the road for a conference matchup against North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. The Avenging Angels then return home to host Hood College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
