LYNCHBURG, Va. | Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the Meredith College track & field team closed out its final regular-season meet at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic with strong performances across the board, including several top-10 finishes and all-time program marks.
Quoting Head Coach Field Miller:
"Nasty weekend for weather, but our group pushed away the distractions for our last opportunity to sharpen before the conference championships. I am looking forward to getting this group some rest and ready in two weeks!"
Sprints & Mid-Distance
Abigail Clayton led the sprint group, competing in three individual events. She placed 15th in the 100m (13.07), 19th in the 200m (26.94), and 12th in the 400m (1:00.90). Joining her in the 400m was
Abrianna Casarez, who finished 16th with a solid 1:02.30.
In the 1500m,
Delaney Bundy took 24th with a time of 5:24.36.
Hurdles
Casarez also turned in a standout performance in the 400m hurdles, clocking 1:11.18 to place 9th and move to #2 all-time in Meredith history.
Ellie-Reed Zimmerman added depth to the event, finishing 15th in 1:18.71.
Relays
The 4x400m relay team of Maddie Morton,
Natasha Elder,
Abrianna Casarez, and
Abigail Clayton delivered one of the team's top highlights, finishing 3rd with a time of 4:17.76—good for 3rd all-time in program history.
Field Events
In the field events,
Halona Bryant leapt to a 12th-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.71m. Thrower
Athena Mowatt impressed with a 2nd-place finish in the shot put (11.04m), 7th in the javelin (27.58m), and 16th in the hammer throw (27.42m).
