CONCORD, NC — Meredith College capped off a successful outdoor season with a standout performance at the USA South Outdoor Track and Field Championship, earning a 5th-place team finish and setting four new school records in the process.
Led by a balanced team effort across sprints, distance, hurdles, and field events, the Avenging Angels delivered 13 personal bests and collected nine All-Conference honors.

"The group had a goal of jumping into the top 5 as a team. They came together in competition and had an opportunistic approach that gave us the ability to steal some points in areas we weren't expected to. A solid two days to finish out the season and I am extremely proud of our progression and growth this season."
Championship Highlights:
Record-Breaking Performances
- Abigail Clayton was a force on the track, setting school records in both the 200m (6th – 26.04) and 400m (3rd – 58.69), the latter earning her All-Conference honors. She also anchored the 4x400m relay squad to a 2nd-place finish and another school record of 4:11.04, alongside teammates Natasha Elder, Maddie Morton, and Abrianna Casarez.
- In the 100m Hurdles, Avery McMillan (5th – 17.89) broke the program record, with Ellie-Reed Zimmerman closely behind in 6th (18.03).
Distance Dominance
- Elisabeth Modlin earned All-Conference honors with a 3rd-place finish in the 3000m Steeplechase (15:27.76), while Delaney Bundy and Laura Brown claimed 3rd and 4th in the 10,000m, respectively. Bundy also placed 5th in the 1500m, helping to solidify key mid-distance points for the team.
Hurdles & Relays
- In the 400m Hurdles, Abrianna Casarez placed 4th (1:12.67), and Zimmerman returned for a 7th-place finish (1:19.52).
- The 4x400m Relay team's silver-medal finish was a major highlight, clocking the fastest time in school history (4:11.04).
Field Event Standouts
- Athena Mowatt earned All-Conference recognition in the Javelin with a 3rd-place throw of 31.88m, a personal best. She also placed 4th in the Shot Put (10.61m).
- Halona Bryant and Kendall Carroll both notched personal bests in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, finishing 5th/6th and 9th/7th, respectively.
