SEWANEE, Tenn. - Coming off a quick turnaround the Meredith volleyball program was victorious the first match of the day against Berea, and then squeaked out a thriller to defeat host Sewanee in at the Sewanee Invitational inside Juhan Gymnasium Saturday. The Angels defeated Berea in three sets by the scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-16. Meredith was led by junior
Caitlyn Russell with 11 kills and a .265 hitting percentage, while sophomore
Daven Brabble continued her hot hitting with a .357 hitting percentage on 14 swings.
The Angels then turned their attention to host Sewanee and earned a hard-fought five-set victory by scores of 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, and 15-10. Sophomore
Daven Brabble turned in a standout performance with a career-high 21 kills. Junior
Kinley Copeland was nearly unstoppable at the net, recording 10 kills on 19 swings without an error for an impressive .526 hitting percentage, while also adding 3.5 blocks. Senior
Lillie Davis directed the offense with 41 assists and contributed 8 digs.
Meredith is back in action on the road Tuesday, September 2, at Guilford College with first serve set for 6:00 p.m.
