GREENSBORO, N.C. – A pair of first half goals by Berry (Ga,) proved to be the difference in non-conference soccer action on Friday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C., as the Vikings escaped with a 2-1 victory against Meredith.
The Vikings assumed the early lead in the second minute of action when Nicole Knight drove her second goal of the season into the back of the net for the early 1-0 advantage. Teammate Emily Walsh followed with an unassisted goal in the 18th minute, delivering what proved to be the game-winner for Berry.
Meredith cut the margin in half, 2-1, after
Lucy Miller converted a pass by
Kate Conoley for her first goal of the 2025 campaign.
Meredith finished the game with one shot, coincidentally a shot on goal, while Berry attempted 18 shots (10 thots on goal). The Vikings attempted 13 of those shots in the second half.
While Miller was individually responsible for both the shot and shot on goal for Meredith. Meanwhile, Laina Englebart led the way for the Vikings with four shots (three shots on goal). Teammate Mia Ries closed with three shots (two SOG) and both Giselle Aitken and Teresa Rodriguez had two shots apiece.
Carter Knox led Meredith in goal with seven saves, while Riley Wilson tallied one save for Berry.
Samantha Woodfin made one save for Meredith as well, while Kate Hill also saw action in net for the Vikings.
