Score: Meredith 1, Methodist 1
RALEIGH, N.C. – A remarkable defensive performance coupled with a goal from
Ellie Heney resulted in Meredith's third tie of the 2025 campaign as the Avenging Angels earned a draw with USA South Conference rival Methodist on Tuesday evening.
Heney netted the first goal of the game in the 47th minute when teammate
Lucy Miller hit her streaking down the center of the pitch. It was one of five shots for the Avenging Angels in the frame.
Methodist scored the equalizer in the 71st minute on a ricochet shot from Emily Hoyt in front of the net. The Monarchs tallied nine shots in the second after being limited to just two in the first.
Meredith controlled the Monarchs' offense with a sound defensive presence, holding the opposition to just give shots on goal, two of which came from Brynn Ludka. Meanwhile, the Avenging Angels had 11 shots, including three shots on goal, from the trio of Heney,
Kate Conoley and
Claire Wagner.
Samantha Woodfin kept the Methodist offense at bay with four saves, while her counterpart, Carolina Simpkins, finished with two saves on the evening.
