RALEIGH, NC – The Meredith College women's basketball team picked up a hard-fought 57–53 USA South Conference victory over Greensboro College on Wednesday night inside Weatherspoon Gymnasium. The Avenging Angels used a strong third quarter and timely free throws late to secure the four-point win.
Game Highlights
Meredith jumped out to a 19–15 lead after the first quarter and went into halftime ahead 27–25 in a tightly contested defensive battle. The Avenging Angels delivered their best stretch of the night in the third quarter, shooting over 70 percent from the floor to outscore Greensboro 18–13 and build a five-point cushion heading into the final period. Greensboro cut the deficit to two in the closing minute, but Meredith closed the door at the free-throw line and with a late fast-break layup to seal the win.
Key Performances
Molly Zuburg led Meredith with a game-high 19 points while adding eight rebounds and three steals in a complete all-around performance. Leanna Nohs chipped in 13 points, and Emma Roche provided a spark off the bench with seven points and two blocks. Skyler Setzer filled the stat sheet with 14 rebounds and eight assists to anchor the Avenging Angels on both ends of the floor. Meredith won the rebounding battle, 54–44, and converted key second-chance opportunities down the stretch.

With the victory, Meredith improves to 6–18 overall and 4–13 in USA South play. The Avenging Angels will look to carry the momentum into their last regular season conference matchup against Mary Baldwin this Saturday the 21st.
