RALEIGH, NC – Meredith College women's basketball battled through four quarters on the road but ultimately fell to North Carolina Wesleyan, 71–44, on Saturday afternoon.
The Avenging Angels kept the game within reach early, trailing 21–19 at the end of the second quarter after a strong stretch of play that included timely shooting and defensive stops. Meredith continued to compete coming out of halftime, but NC Wesleyan used a strong third quarter to create separation and carried that momentum into the final period.
Key Performances
Senior Molly Zuburg led Meredith with a team-high 17 points, adding multiple three-pointers and steady play throughout the contest. Skyler Setzer followed with 13 points while also contributing on both ends of the floor. Emma Roche added eight points for the Avenging Angels, providing a spark in the paint. The Avenging Angels were strong on the boards, pulling down 38 rebounds, including 12 on the offensive glass.
Game Notes
NC Wesleyan was paced by Anaya Hall, who scored a game-high 33 points, helping the Battling Bishops pull away in the second half. Meredith forced several turnovers and showed fight throughout, but was unable to slow NC Wesleyan's offensive rhythm late.
