Meredith College softball closed out play at The Spring Games with a dominant 8-0 run-rule victory over Wooster. The Avenging Angels set the tone early and never looked back, scoring in three different innings while racking up 15 hits.
Tess Spangenburg opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI double, bringing home Emilee Lewis for the early advantage. Meredith added two more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Lewis to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Angels broke the game open in the fifth inning, plating five runs on six hits. RBI contributions from Haleigh Moss, Kailey Hicks, Emilee Lewis, Anna Morgan, and Lillie Davis powered Meredith to the run-rule victory.
Game Two: Meredith 3, Wisconsin-Stout 2
Meredith completed the sweep with a gritty 3-2 comeback win over Wisconsin-Stout in the nightcap. The Angels struck first in the opening inning, as Ashbee Standridge delivered an RBI single to give Meredith a 1-0 lead.
Wisconsin-Stout responded to take a 2-1 lead, but Meredith answered in the fifth inning with a clutch two-out rally. Emilee Lewis reached base and created pressure on the basepaths, while Laycie Eastwood also reached safely. Kaydon Roberson came through with the biggest hit of the game, a two-RBI single that scored both runners and gave Meredith a 3-2 lead.
The pitching staff held strong down the stretch to secure the win and complete the sweep.
Key Performances
Emilee Lewis led the offensive effort across both games, totaling six hits on the day, including a 3-for-4 performance with three RBI in game one and a perfect 3-for-3 showing in game two with two runs scored and a walk.
Ashbee Standridge added four hits across the doubleheader with an RBI in each game, while Kaydon Roberson drove in the game-winning runs in game two.
Haleigh Moss went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI in the opener, contributing to Meredith's balanced offensive attack.
