DEMOREST, GA – A dominant, championship-clinching performance powered the Avenging Angels to a 20-4 victory over USA South Conference opponent Piedmont University. With the win, Meredith secured the USA South Regular Season Championship, earned the No. 1 seed for the upcoming conference tournament, and reached a major program milestone with its 20th championship. The Avenging Angels improved to 13-4 overall and a perfect 8-0 in conference play.
Game Highlights
Meredith set the tone early and never looked back. After a brief 2-1 deficit midway through the first quarter, the Avenging Angels erupted for six unanswered goals to close the period with a 7-2 lead. That momentum carried into a dominant second quarter, where Meredith outscored Piedmont 9-0 to take a commanding 16-2 advantage into halftime.
The midfield defense proved to be a difference-maker throughout the contest, consistently disrupting Piedmont's transition and limiting quality scoring opportunities. Meredith forced 21 turnovers while holding Piedmont to just 15 total shots and eight shots on goal.
Controlling possession was another key factor, as Madison Dean and Bailey Swails dominated the draw circle, helping Meredith secure an 18-7 edge in draw controls and maintain offensive pressure for much of the game.
