Meredith Takes Game Two, Splits With Greensboro

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Meredith College Avenging Angels battled Greensboro College in a USA South Conference doubleheader on Saturday, splitting the day on a beautiful afternoon at home in front of an energetic home crowd.

Game 1: Greensboro 4, Meredith 1

Greensboro used a big fifth inning to claim the opener, 4-1, despite Meredith competing throughout.

Ashbee Standridge provided the spark for the Avenging Angels with a solo home run in the seventh. Mariah Bell led the offense with two hits, while both Bell and Emilee Lewis each added a stolen base to apply early pressure.

In the circle, Lillie Davis went the first five innings before Rhyleigh Horne closed things out with two scoreless innings, not allowing a run and keeping Greensboro in check down the stretch.

Game 2: Meredith 2, Greensboro 1

Meredith responded with a gritty 2-1 win in game two behind strong pitching and timely hitting.

In a pivotal sixth inning, Ashbee Standridge delivered a clutch leadoff hit to spark the rally. Rylee Meyer entered as a pinch runner and came around to score the go-ahead—and ultimately game-winning—run, showcasing aggressive baserunning and execution.

Emilee Lewis continued her strong day at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 and setting the tone offensively. In the circle, Lillie Davis was outstanding, tossing a complete game and limiting Greensboro to just one run on three hits while working through key moments with poise.
