SEASON PREVIEW: Volleyball

1. Meredith was selected to finish third in the USA South Preseason Coaches Poll. The Avenging Angels are coming off a 19-12 season in 2025 and posted an 11-7 mark in USA South play. Meredith advanced to the USA South semifinals for the second consecutive season.
2. Head coach John Wasielewski enters his third season at the helm of the program and holds a 35-24 overall record through his first two campaigns.
3. Outside hitter Caitlyn Russell returns after earning First Team All-USA South honors in 2025. Russell led the Avenging Angels with 389.5 points and 338 kills.
4. Meredith returns 10 players from last season's roster while adding seven newcomers. The 10 returners include the team's top three leaders in kills from 2025.
5. The Avenging Angels also return two other statistical leaders in defensive specialist Megan Murray, who led the team with 547 digs, and outside hitter/middle blocker Daven Brabble, who tied for the team lead with 46.0 blocks.

Earlier this summer, the USA South Athletic Conference announced a five year media rights partnership with FloSports as the exclusive live stream provider for USA South athletic events.

As a result, all Meredith College Athletics home events for sports that compete within the USA South will be aired on FloCollege, with full game replays for home events available on the Meredith Athletics YouTube channel at a later date.

This agreement through the USA South means Meredith Athletics broadcasts will have a pay wall to access coverage on the FloCollege platform.

John Wasielewski enters his third season as head coach of the Meredith College volleyball program in 2026 after being named the Avenging Angels' head coach in March 2024.

Since arriving in Raleigh, Wasielewski has quickly elevated the Meredith volleyball program, guiding the Avenging Angels to back-to-back winning seasons. Meredith posted a 16-12 record in his debut campaign in 2024 before improving to 19-12 in 2025, marking one of the program's most successful two-year stretches in recent history.

Under Wasielewski's leadership, Meredith student-athletes have continued to earn recognition at the conference level. The Avenging Angels have produced three USA South All-Conference selections, one USA South Rookie of the Year, and four USA South Athletes of the Week during his tenure. In 2024, Delaney Lowery earned USA South Rookie of the Year honors after an outstanding first season.

Wasielewski has also overseen the continued development of Meredith's veteran players. During his time with the program, Lillie Davis and Megan Murray each surpassed the 1,000-career dig milestone, joining an elite group of defensive standouts in program history.
