Soccer Gains Ninth Shutout on the Year, Down Ferrum 3-0

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith soccer team continued a home conference home stand as the
Ferrum Panthers came to town.  The Avenging Angels notched their ninth shutout on the year by defeating the Panthers 3-0.

Meredith (9-3, 3-1 USA South) scored their first on a goal by Carrie Talbert.  Talbert took the place kick at the 18 minute mark from the top of the box on a foul by the Panthers.  Talbert's shot curved around the Ferrum wall and into the left hand top corner over the goalie.  Mary Kate Watson scored a goal assisted by Jesse Davis and Eliza Evans to give Meredith the 2-0 halftime lead.

The Avenging Angels added a third goal in the second half.  Eliza Evans scored a goal on a assist by Kelsey Huckee.

Ferrum (8-4-1, 2-3-1) was outshot by the Avenging Angels 23-2.

Meredith next travels to Christopher Newport in a key USA South match up.  The Captains sit

in first place of the conference.
