Box Score Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith soccer team cemented their
important USA South conference home stand as the Avenging Angels
took the Pride 2-1.
Alex Calvert kept ahead of the Pride putting in both of Meredith's
goals in the win. Calvert scored on a assist from Carrie
Talbert at the 30 minute mark. The Avenging Angels (12-4, 6-2
USA South) kept the pressure on Greensboro (10-5-1, 4-3-1) as
Calvert scored again two minutes later. Meredith took the 2-0
lead into halftime.
The Avenging Angels continued to hold the 2-0 lead until Greensboro
scored on a breakaway by Jessica Jameson. Meredith's tough
defense continued to hold Greensboro and took the 2-1 victory.
Meredith outshot Greensboro 17-10 and Kelsey Hopper had three saves
for the Angels. The Avenging Angels held the corner kick
advantage 6-3.
Meredith completes their season on Friday as they host Peace in a
Breast Cancer Awareness game.
