Box Score Raleigh, N.C. – The #2 seeded Meredith soccer team hosted #7 Methodist on Tuesday night in the quarter final round of the USA South Women's Soccer Tournament. The Avenging Angels scored two goals in the last five minutes to pull out the 3-2 victory.
Meredith (14-4) took the 1-0 lead over Methodist (11-7-1) at the 21:46 minute mark as Danielle Lee scored on an assist from Kimberly Williams. Methodist tied things up at the 36 minute mark on a unassisted goal from Lisa Paschal. The game went into the half tied at one all.
Methodist took their first lead over Meredith this season with a second goal from Paschal at the 65 minute mark. Both teams played physical as the Monarchs continued to keep grasp of the lead. Meredith put pressure on Methodist and tied things up on a goal from Carrie Talbert at the 84 minute mark. The Avenging Angels keep pressuring and Eliza Evans scored with just over a minute remaining to give Meredith the 3-2 lead. Meredith ran out the clock to advance to the semifinals.
Meredith will now face #6 Averett in the semifinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Martinsville, Va.
