Tennis Takes Down Shenandoah and Chris. Newport

Newport News, Va. - The Avenging Angels tennis team continued their winning ways with two victories over the weekend on a long USA South road trip. Meredith completed a 9-0 victory over Shenandoah and a 7-2 win over Christopher Newport.

March 27: Meredith 9, Shenandoah 0 - Meredith (5-3, 4-1 USA South) won easily over Shenandoah (1-3, 4-5) with all three doubles pairs winning by the scores of 8-0. All Avenging Angels players won in singles with Ashley Pearsall winning at number one (6-2, 6-1), Kathryn Maples at #2 (6-0, 6-0), Casey Collins at #3, Alison Flanagan at #4, Betty Edwards at #5, and Mollie Musgrave at #6.

March 28: Meredith 7, Christopher Newport 2 - The Avenging Angels continued their winning ways against Christopher Newport (12-1, 3-1). Doubles for the day started by winning all three. The number one combination of Ashley Pearsall and Kathryn Maples won 8-2, #2 doubles Casey Collins and Alison Flanagan won 8-2 while #3 doubles Mollie Musgrave and Betty Edwards won 9-7. #1 Pearsall won 6-4, 6-4 while #2 Maples won 6-2, 6-0. Meredith continued their wins at #5 Edwards 6-3, 6-1 and #6 Musgrave 3-6, 5-4, 10-5.

Meredith next hosts Greensboro on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
