Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith soccer team capped a perfect weekend in shutting out Salem 2-0. The Avenging Angels finish the tournament as the only undefeated team on the weekend and held the competition scoreless.

Meredith (2-0) got things moving early against Salem (2-1) with a goal at the 22 minute mark by Alex Calvert in traffic right in front of the goal assisted by Carrie Talbert. It was Calvert's second goal in as many games.

The Avenging Angels added an insurance goal in the second half at the 61:49 mark. Eliza Evans scored on Talbert's second assist on the day. Strong goaltending my Aslyn Rau completed the shutout of the Spirits.

Meredith returns to action as they travel to Georgia to take on Piedmont at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex on Friday at 7 p.m.
