Box Score Raleigh, N.C. - The Avenging Angels hosted N.C. Wesleyan on Senior Day on Sunday. Meredith took the 5-1 win over the Battling Bishops. Seniors Jessie Breazeale, Courtney Stafford and Sarah Murray were honored in a pregame ceremony.
N.C. Wesleyan (2-15, 2-6 USA South) struck first as the Bishops took the 1-0 lead at the 13 minute mark. The Avenging Angels answered twice in the first half and took the 2-1 halftime lead. Rachel Didier scored at the 33 minute mark and was assised by Eliza Evans. Haley Carson added to the total with 3 minutes left in the first half. Carson's goal was assisted by Didier.
In the second half, Meredith (5-8-4, 2-4-2) added to their lead as Evans put in her second goal of the day off a corner kick from Jesse Davis at the 50 minute mark. Evans and Davis then assisted Kimberley Williams at the 66 minute mark to extend the lead to 4-1. Breazeale then scored the final goal of the game on a penality kick opportunity. It was the senior's fourth career goal and first of the season.
Meredith completes their season on Friday as they travel to Cary to take on Peace at WakeMed Soccer Park in a Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
