Burlington, N.C. - The Meredith tennis team pulled together and came back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Christopher Newport 5-4.  Meredith took four of the six singles to take the match.

CNU struck first with a 2-1 win in doubles, taking the #1 and #2 spots.  #3 doubles went to the Avenging Angels with a 6-1, 6-0 win from Puja Patel and Zannah Webster.

In singles action, CNU took the first match at the #3 spot but Meredith rallied winning the next three to take the 4-3 match lead.  A victory at the #6 spot tied everything up at 4-4 and then Mollie Musgrave clinched the 5-4 win at #5 with a 6-2, 6-1 win.  The other Meredith victory's were at #1 Patel 7-6(7-2), 6-0, #2 Ashley Pearsall 6-4, 7-6(8-6) and #4 Betty Edwards 6-4, 6-4.

Meredith will face #1 seed Methodist in the USA South Finals on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Burlington Tennis Center.
