Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith tennis team took on Christopher Newport on Thursday afternoon.  The Avenging Angels nipped the Captains 5-4.

Meredith (8-8, 6-1 USA South) took the early 2-1 lead in doubles.  The #1 pairing of Ashley Pearsall/Mary Lawrence Newton won 9-8(7-4) in a tie breaker.  The Avenging Angels earned another point at #3 doubles, with Puja Patel and Zannah Webster wining 8-4.

In singles, Meredith was able to gain a split and get three points for the win.  #1 Patel won easily 6-2, 6-3 and #2 Pearsall took a victory at 6-3, 6-4.  Mollie Musgrave took the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #5 spot and defeat Christopher Newport (10-3, 5-1 USA South).

Meredith finishes their regular season at Ferrum on Saturday.  The match starts at noon.
