Washington, D.C. - The Meredith soccer team traveled to take part of in the D.C. Classic at Catholic University.  The Avenging Angels opened up play with a 1-0 loss to Bridgewater (Va.).  

The game remained scoreless until the second half when Bridgewater scored the only goal of the game at the 49:09 minute mark.  Bridgewater outshot the Avenging Angels 16-9.  Meredith's Kelsey Hopper pulled in 12 saves on 16 shots.

Meredith next faces host Catholic on Sunday at 2 p.m.
