Soccer Tied Piedmont 1-1

Box Score

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith soccer team welcomed Piedmont College on Friday night in a non-conference game.  The Avenging Angels gained their second tie in as many games as they finished the game deadlocked at 1-1.

The Avenging Angels (2-3-2) got on the board first with a goal inside the first three minutes of the game.  Allie Kahler scored on a corner kick by Jesse Davis.  Piedmont tied things up at the 19 minute mark as Dilyn MacLean scored.  The game went into the half tied at one-all.

The second half remained a defensive battle and the game went into two scoreless overtimes.  Both teams finished with 13 total shots.  Meredith's goalie Kelsey Hopper had four saves.

Piedmont will be a full member of the USA South conference next season.

Meredith next hosts Wesleyan (Ga.) on Sunday at 11 a.m.
