Box Score Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith soccer team opened up their USA South conference schedule on Saturday against Methodist. The Monarchs and Avenging Angels finished in a 2-2 double overtime tie. The game was originally slated to be played at Methodist but was moved to Meredith's FieldTurf surface.
Methodist (3-5-1, 0-0-1 USA South) got things going early and led 1-0 at the half. An unassisted goal by Lisa Paschal at the 22 minute mark gave the Monarchs the lead.
The Monarchs extended the lead at the 74 minute mark as Brooke Corley put one in for Methodist. Carrie Talbert then got Meredith on the board as she drilled in a penalty kick at the 75 minute mark. The Avenging Angels tied things at 2-all as Eliza Evans scored an unassisted goal on the top of the box to the right side of the post.
The game remained deadlocked through two 10 minute overtimes. Meredith (3-3-3, 0-0-1) earned their third tie on the season.
Meredith next travels to Greensboro on Sunday for a 2 p.m. conference match up.
