Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith tennis team won their home opener on Saturday as they defeated Hollins University 7-2. The Avenging Angels have a 2-0 start on the season and avenge their 6-3 loss to Hollins last year.

Meredith took the 2-1 lead after doubles play. The #1 duo of Puja Patel and Mollie Musgrave took theiir match 5-2 after the Hollins pairing retired. Meredith's other win in doubles was at #3 as Ashley Pearsall and Betty Edwards gained the 8-2 victory.

In singles, Meredith took five out of six to secure the victory. Patel took the win at #1 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win. Other victories were by #3 Caroline Hunt 6-1, 6-2, #4 Pearsall 6-1, 6-0, #5 Betty Edwards 6-3, 6-1 and #6 Musgrave 6-3, 6-0.

The Avenging Angels next travel to Pfeiffer University on February 23rd for a 2:30 pm start.
