Danville, Va. - The Meredith tennis team swept Averett on Sunday in USA South Conference action. The Avenging Angels (13-4, 6-1 USA South) kept the Cougars (0-11, 0-6) winless on the year.
Meredith started the match with a perfect 8-0 in all three doubles matches with #1 Puja Patel/Caroline Hunt, #2 Mary Lawrence Newton/Betty Edwards and #3 Mollie Musgrave/Ashley Pearsall all taking the wins.
Singles saw the dominance of the Avenging Angels continue as they only lost a combined five games. All six for Meredith took easy wins with victories by #1 Patel (6-0, 6-2), #2 Hunt (6-0, 6-1), #3 Newton (6-1, 6-0), #4 Pearsall (6-0, 6-1), #5 Edwards (6-0, 6-0) and #6 Musgrave (6-0, 6-0).
Meredith next hosts cross town rival Peace on April 4 for a 3:30 p.m. USA South match.
