Tennis Moves to USA South Semifinals with 9-0 Win Over Peace

Burlington, N.C. - The #1 seeded Meredith tennis team took care of business in the USA South quarterfinals on Friday as they downed the #8 Peace Pacers 9-0. Meredith returns to action on Saturday as the face the #4 Christopher Newport Captains at 9 a.m. in the USA South semifinals.

Meredith went perfect in doubles play and only dropped two games in singles to roll over the Pacers. Meredith had 8-0 wins in doubles by the #1 pairing of Puja Patel/Caroline Hunt, #2 Mary Lawrence Newton/Betty Edwards and #3 Ashley Pearsall/Mollie Musgrave. Singles play saw 6-0, 6-0 sweeps by #1 Patel and #4 Pearsall. #2 Hunt and #3 Newton both took their matches 6-0, 6-1 and while #5 Edwards and #6 Meg Crumpton both won 8-0.
