Tennis Claims 9-0 Win Over Cougars

DANVILLE, Va. - The Avenging Angels tennis team claimed their second consecutive USA South win with Sunday's 9-0 sweep at Averett.

Team leader Puja Patel and no. 1 doubles partner Caroline Hunt led the Meredith doubles to a 3-0 lead to open the match in Virginia. Seniors Betty Edwards and Mollie Musgrave followed with an 8-0 win at no. 2, and rookies Hallie Corbett and Becky O'Brien teamed up for the first time to take the Cougars at no. 3.

To secure the win, the full slate of Avenging Angels singles players finished off their competition in two sets each.

Meredith travels across town Wednesday to face rival William Peace. Doubles action begins at 3 p.m. versus the Pacers.
