Tennis Adds 9-0 Sweep to Conference Record

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith Avenging Angels (9-6, 6-2 USA South) posted a 9-0 sweep over visiting N.C. Wesleyan (4-9, 4-5 USA South) in Tuesday's USA South women's tennis match. The doubles pairings made quick work of the Bishops to give MC a 3-0 lead, and Puja Patel fought for her 6-4, 6-4 win at the no. 1 singles flight to claim the win.

Senior Molly Musgrave started off the singles wins for Meredith with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Dori Brooks. Mary Lawrence Newton and Betty Edwards followed suit dropping just one game apiece at the third and fourth spots.

Caroline Hunt and Taylor Brennan battled to finish their respective singles matches in two sets to close out the Avenging Angel win.

Meredith hosts Greensboro College Thursday in a 3 p.m. league match to continue the five-game home series. The Avenging Angels added makeup contests with Roanoke and N.C. Central to close out the regular season next week before heading to the Conference Championships in Rocky Mount April 12.
