Tennis Downs Piedmont 9-0

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith (11-6, 8-2 USA South) tennis squad cruised past visiting Piedmont College (7-8, 7-3 USA South) 9-0 in today's USA South pairing.

The Avenging Angels opened the match with a sweep in doubles to take the early lead.

Sophomore Caroline Hunt posted a strong 6-2, 6-0 win at no. 2 singles to keep the momentum going for Meredith. At the no. 6 spot rookie Taylor Brennan edged past Nicole Parrish 7-5 in set two to complete the victory.

The Avenging Angels host the LaGrange Panthers Sunday in the final conference match of the season. Just prior to the Noon start, Athletics Director Jackie Myers will present selected student-athletes with the National Student Athlete Day Award for achieving excellence in academics and athletics, while making significant contributions to the community. The presentation is held in conjunction with NCAA Division III Week, which officially begins Monday.
