Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -The Meredith Avenging Angels (1-1-3) scored back-to-back-to-back goals during the first five minutes of Wednesday evening's non-conference game versus the Randolph WildCats and never looked back. Senior Jessie Davis netted the first for Meredith at 3:08 and assisted on three more plays to lead her team to a win.
Danielle Lee and Ila Torfin claimed their points early with help from Sarah Varnell and Davis.
In the 13th minute the Avenging Angels recovered a near miss from Randolph and Eliza Evans scored next for Meredith off one of two assists from rookie Meredith McCarty.
At 20:21 Davis launched one of 11 corner kicks for the Avenging Angels and Anna Smither punched in a header on the play.
Just before the intermission, Tayor Davis came off the bench to extend Meredith's lead to six off a feed from Samantha Mendez.
It took Meredith 14 attempts at the goal in the second period before Brittany LaRussa finally found the net in the 64th minute of the game, and Smither posted her second goal off a corner from rookie Ellice Johnson to complete the scoring.
Three Avenging Angel keepers shared the shutout with senior Kelsey Hopper posting her 34th save on the year for the win. Sara McCaw and freshman Brook Verburg shared the second half minutes for Meredith.
The Avenging Angels travel to Staunton, Virginia, for a Sunday afternoon pairing with Mary Baldwin to open the conference season.
