Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - In the final non-conference contest before facing the tough competition of the USA South, the Meredith College (3-1-3) women's soccer team defeated the Guilford Quakers (0-8) 4-0. Danielle Lee netted a pair of goals in the first half to help the Avenging Angels secure the win.
MC set the tone early in the match earning three corner kicks before the sixth minute. Jessie Davis followed her third attempt and scored on an assist from Illa Torfin.
The Avenging Angels allowed just one offensive attack from the Quakers before Lee netted a corner kick from Davis for a 2-0 lead at 14:31.
Lee and Davis connected once more before the intermission to extend the Meredith lead to three.
At 67:09 Eliza Evans collected a pass from Lee to complete the scoring and seal the victory for the Avenging Angels.
Senior goalie Kelsey Hopper logged 45 minutes for her third win of the season. Sara McCaw entered the game after the break and earned the team's only save on the night.
Guilford's Abby Gove tallied a dozen saves in her 81:25 and took the loss for the Quakers.
Meredith hosts a pair of conference opponents this weekend beginning with new USA South member Huntingdon College Saturday, September 21. LaGrange follows Sunday and both games are slated to kickoff at Noon.
