Soccer's Nine Game Streak Ends with 1-0 Loss at Methodist

Box Score

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist University soccer team upset Meredith College 1-0 Tuesday afternoon in USA South action. Meredith's nine game winning streak and perfect conference record came to a halt with the loss.

With two matches left to play in regular season competition, the Avenging Angels (11-4-1, 9-0 USAS) remain atop the league standings. MU's win places them in fourth place with a slight advantage over Greensboro.

The Avenging Angels launched just one shot each half in today's defensive battle. Meredith McCarty and Danielle Lee attempted one apiece, but Monarch goalie Taylor Ross stopped both.

Meredith keeper Jaisa Loch defelected a Monarch shot in the first frame, but Cassie Poindexter found a gap in the net to score the game winner for Methodist in the 82nd minute of the match. She was assisted by Jasmine Newman on the play.

Meredith travels next to Ferrum for a Sunday afternoon match-up with the Panthers. Follow the game live HERE.
