Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - Freshman goalie Jaisa Loch recorded her fourth career shutout Saturday as the Meredith College Avenging Angels downed Greensboro College 3-0 in USA South action. The win sets the stage for next Friday's battle for league supremacy as the Maryville Scots visit the Meredith turf.
Meredith outpaced the Pride in the first period with nine shots to seven, and Megan Amanatides put the Angels on the board in the 20th minute of play. Defender Megan Luke served the pass down field, and Amanatides gathered the ball to drive in a score.
Greensboro returned to the field after the break determined to challenge Meredith. But in the first 16:14 of the second period, Loch tallied three saves to secure the net, and Meredith McCarty scored her eighth goal of the season with the help of Robin Moore.
The Avenging Angels teamed up on the next ball with a pass from the left to Danielle Lee in the middle. Lee dropped the ball back to Moore who drove the ball to the left corner to extend the Meredith lead to three. Lee's assist was her 10th of the season.
Loch tallied nine saves in her eighth complete game of the season, and Greensboro's Jessica Thatcher took the loss for the Pride with seven saves on the day.
