Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - The top-seeded Meredith College soccer team defeated eighth-seeded Averett 2-0 in Saturday's USA South Quarterfinal pairing. Jamison Kidd and Danielle Lee scored one goal apiece in the effort.
Meredith advances to the semifinals set for Friday, Nov. 7, at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia. The Avenging Angels will play Sunday's Maryville/Greensboro winner at 5 p.m. next weekend.
In the 28th minute of the match, Meredith McCarty found Kidd on a corner kick from the left side to put the Angels on the scoreboard. Kidd headed the ball into the upper left pocket for the score.
Late in the second period, Megan Amanatides drove down the left side of the field and launched a pass to Lee. Lee collected the ball just feet from the box and punched it in to finish the match.
Jaisa Loch earned her 13th win and 10th shutout of her rookie season, and Kim Josephson took the loss for Averett.
