RALEIGH, N.C. - Saturday's 7-2 win over the USA South's Averett Cougars gave the Meredith College tennis team their fourth consecutive league win. The Avenging Angels remain at the top of the conference alongside Covenant and Methodist.
Doubles pairs Caroline Hunt/Mary Lawrence Newton and Puja Patel/Cailin Goff swept their opponents to give the Avenging Angels a 2-1 lead.
The five Meredith singles players lost just one game in 10 sets to complete the win.
The Avenging Angels played down a player, thus defaulting on the only two losses on the day.
Meredith next takes the court Friday, March 21, at Ferrum before hosting a doubleheader Saturday versus Piedmont and Covenant.
