Patel Wins Tiebreaker to Finish Off Bishop Sweep

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Meredith College tennis senior Puja Patel finished off her opponent with an 11-9 tiebreaker at No. 1 to help lead the Avenging Angels past N.C. Wesleyan 9-0 Wednesday afternoon. The victory was Meredith's seventh consecutive and maintains the Angels' perfect USA South record.

Caroline Hunt and Mary Lawrence Newton teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Patel and Cailin Goff earned their fifth match on the season with an 8-0 finish at No. 2.

Hunt captured the win at No. 2 singles, and Newton and Goff swept their opponents to finish off the win.

The Avenging Angels are slated to host William Peace University Friday at 3:30 p.m. before heading to Fayetteville Saturday to face Methodist, also undefeated in league play.
