LEXINGTON, Va. - Meredith College soccer fell 1-0 to the Bridgewater Eagles in Saturday's day-two of the Washington and Lee Classic. Sarah Varnell recorded a pair of attempts, including one on goal, to keep the Avenging Angels in the mix.

After a scoreless first half, Bridgewater's Sarah Brennan scored a goal late in the second period to secure the win for the Eagles.

The teams remained fairly even in shots in the first 45 minutes of play with Bridgewater at five and Meredith with four attempts.

But the Eagles outpaced Meredith in the second half and scored the eventual gamewinner.

Rookie keeper Jaisa Loch recorded three saves, and Eagle Hayley Talbott deflected both of Meredith's attempts for the win.

The Avenging Angels host the Meredith Classic next weekend featuring Salem, Guilford and USA South foe Piedmont College. Meredith will face Salem Saturday and Guilford Sunday afternoon.
