Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College Avenging Angels' impressive season continued Saturday with an 8-0 shut out over Mary Baldwin College. Jessica Wallace, Ashton Allen, and Kathryn McNeill scored two goals apiece to lead the offense, while the defensive efforts prevented Baldwin from taking a shot during the match.
The game began quickly for Meredith as the offense enforced their will on Mary Baldwin. Junior Meghan Ingram struck for her second goal of the season unassisted in the seventh minute. Wallace then added her two goals during the first half, including one on a perfect through pass from Luke. McNeill and Allen scored their goals next before Chloe Locklear added the final point to close out the half.
Meredith maintained their offensive pressure after the break and controlled the pace of play until the end. The Angels midfielders held the ball in the front field for most of the period as Meredith ran out the clock on the Fighting Squirrels.
The Avenging Angels outshot the Squirrels 31-0 and attempted nine corner kicks to none for Baldwin. Meredith's defense extended their streak to four with today's shut out.
Goalkeepers Jaisa Loch and Kat Pike combined for the shutout for the Angels as Loch goes to 12-4 on the season. Brittany Tenn took the loss for Mary Baldwin as she tallied seven saves in goal.
Meredith returns to action Sunday as they play host to Ferrum College at 2 p.m. Head Coach Paul Smith will honor and his team will honor the four-year standout career of Megan Luke just prior to the match. Follow the action live HERE.
