Tennis Earns First Win with 6-3 Victory Over Bulldogs

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith College tennis squad earned their first win on the season with a 6-3 victory over the NCAA Division II Barton College Bulldogs.

The Avenging Angels picked up three singles wins at the no. 2, 3 and 4 spots. After losing a tiebreaker in set one, Catherine Bryant fought back to win the second 6-1. Bryant finished off Barton's Alicia Lasry with a 10-4 third set victory.

Caroline Hunt gave up just four games in a 6-3, 6-1 win over Dana Kelly, and Cailin Goff swept her opponent in the fourth spot.

Meredith recorded three additional wins by default to secure the match.

The Avenging Angels are slated to host Chowan next Wednesday, Feb. 18. Doubles play will begin at 3 p.m.
