RALEIGH, N.C. - Meredith College edged the Bluefield Rams Monday with a 4-3 finish. The Avenging Angels return to action at Averett March 21.

Ran Zhang and Catherine Bryant recorded an 8-2 win at no. 1 doubles to give the Angels a 1-0 lead. Mack Thompson and Jacqueline Benton battled at no. 2 but lost a 7-5 tiebreaker to drop the match 9-8.

Tied 1-1 heading into singles play, Meredith claimed wins at the top-three spots to secure the match victory. Bryant stepped in at no. 1 singles and earned a 6-3, 6-4 win. Zhang dropped just two games en route to a 6-1, 6-1 finish at no. 2, and Cailin Goff posted a 6-3 first-set win before closing out her win with a second-set sweep.

The Avenging Angels return to action March 21 at Averett at Noon.
