STAUNTON, Va. - Meredith College and Covenant met in Staunton, Virginia, Saturday afternoon to makeup the tennis match originally scheduled for February 27. Freshman Ran Zhang extended her streak to 10 singles wins with a 6-3, 6-2 win at no. 2.
The Avenging Angels opened the day with a 2-1 lead after winning the top-two doubles flights. Zhang partnered with Catherine Bryant for an 8-5 finish to win the 11th of their last dozen matches at no. 1. And Caroline Hunt and no. 2 partner Cailin Goff edged Scots Annie Deluca and Lindsay Geving 9-7.
Bryant claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Covenant's Gretchen Rowe at the top singles spot, and Hunt defeated Annie Deluca 6-1, 6-3 at no. 2.
The Avenging Angels return to the campus of Mary Baldwin College Sunday to face off with the host Fighting Squirrels in a Noon start.
