Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College freshmen Haley Andrews and Hannah Elvington each scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over the visiting William Peace Pacers in Saturday's USA South women's soccer action. The win marks the third consecutive for the Avenging Angels and the fourth in the last five contests as Meredith remains in the hunt for a top seed in the approaching conference tournament.
After a scoreless first half, Andrews stepped up for 1-of-10 second period Meredith corner kicks. Elizabeth Snotherly collected the ball and passed back to Andrews for a goal from 15 yards out to put the Angels on the board.
Nearly 10 minutes later, senior Ellice Johnson found Elvington for a short punt to seal the victory for the Angels.
Jaisa Loch recorded her seventh win and fourth shutout on the season in 84:46 minutes played. Brooke Verburg finished off the match.
Kirstie King and Hannah Lawrence led the defensive efforts for Meredith, while Jessica Wallace and Kayla Boudreau challenged Peace with five shots apiece. Cassie Padilla recorded three close attempts from the midfield.
Shannon Maddex recorded the loss for the Pacers with 14 saves.
The Angels are back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. playing host to USA South foe Greensboro College. The Pride now trail Meredith in conference rankings after a loss to Averett this afternoon.
