FERRUM, Va. -- The Meredith College lacrosse Angels closed out the USA South regular season Saturday afternoon with a 20-7 road win versus Ferrum College. Meredith clinched the regular season title last week with their win over the Monarchs and will face off with Methodist in round one of the league tournament set to open next weekend in Rocky Mount.

The top-seeded Angels play MU at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, followed by a match-up between second-seeded Greensboro and third-seeded Piedmont at 1 p.m. The winners advance to a 3 p.m. championship match Saturday. Both rounds will be played at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex Football Stadium.

The Avenging Angels scored the first 14 goals in today's rout to take a commanding lead over the Panthers through the midway point of the first period.

Ferrum collected the next draw control and earned a free position attempt for Julianne Bove, who netted her first of a team-high five goals. The team's exchanged the next three points to extend the Angels' lead to 16-2 heading into the break.

Meredith managed the clock throughout the second half to close out the league season with a victory.

Carlee Joseph led the Angels with seven points, and Katie Burnet tallied five points on four goals and one assist. Jordyn King and Molly Miller compiled four points apiece on a pair each of goals and assists, and Holly Hite led with a game-high five draw controls adding a trio of ground balls.
